My voice got shaky, but I managed to survive the 3 minutes.
As I sat down, I was relieved.
But that relief didn’t last long, because one week later I got my grade…
An F.
I was devastated.
It was my first failure at school in my whole life.
I studied every little trick the Professor gave us.
But the result was still a big fat F…
And that was when I realized my communications skills were awful, and I needed to do something about it.
So I decided to wait outside that professor’s door during his office hours every day for the entire month.
Finding out every detail on how I could improve my public speaking skills and got myself prepared to knock the next speech out of the park.
The next speech came. It was an informative speech.
I worked so hard…
I knew precisely what I was going to say.
I practiced speaking in the mirror and even got help with family members.
I thought I had the correct body language and the right voice tonality.
Everything seemed to be right.
And then I got the results… a D.
All those hours, all that hard work… and I only improved by a measly 10 points?

And the next speech assignment came, an 8-minute long persuasive speech.
This one was different from the other two…
In a persuasive speech, you have to get your audience to take action at the end of it. You have to find a way to change their minds on a certain subject or change their behaviors in some way.
This speech was one that I seriously wanted to do great on.
I felt like if I could master it, I’d have a superpower that could change my entire life.
I could use it for everything.
From applying for a job, asking for a raise, starting my own business, or even getting the nerve to ask someone I liked out on a date… the benefits were endless.
But I didn’t understand how I could persuade my audience into doing something.
“What if they didn’t want to?”
“Won’t I seem pushy and aggressive?”
“Who am I to influence their life? I’m a nobody, I don’t have any authority…”
I started reading like a madman.
Everything I could read on human psychology and how to trick the human brain.
Structure. Delivery. Body Language. Citation. Call to Actions.
And all those hacks seemed unbearably fake to me.
“How can people really change their minds with these small tricks and manipulative techniques? It doesn’t make any sense…”
But one day, the professor gave me an ancient greek book. He told me that “almost” everything I was looking for was in this book.
It was a book written more than 2000 years ago (367 BC to be exact), and I was really skeptical about it… but I decided to give it a try.
I found it very hard to comprehend it, but I knew I was onto something.

And it’s true… it’s tough to read and understand.
But after reading it for hours, and getting my professor to help decipher it for me. I was feeling confident.

He did not indicate how well I did.
In my mind, I was honestly praying. I tried so hard, and I wasn’t ready for another failure.
One week later, I got my evaluation.
I hesitated to look at it.
I asked a friend of mine to look at it instead…
She first had a serious face, and I thought “Damn, here we go again…”
But then, she switched to a huge smile and said: “You got an A!”
For real?!
I was over the moon.
And that’s when I knew my life’s mission was to help people improve their communication, using these almost completely lost techniques.
I decided to get my Bachelor, and then my Master Degree in Communication Studies (i.e. Presentation, Rhetoric, Persuasion, Body Language, etc…).
I spent the next six years adjusting my method, learning from all the great thinkers, philosophers, and leaders, reaching back to the time of the Greeks.
Countless hours of daily study.
I spent my whole life learning these old techniques and adapting them to our modern day-to-day life.
And that’s how my method was born…
Now, people will tell you that you’re either born a great communicator or not…
Well, that’s not true.
Like math or physics, persuasive communication is a science. And you can learn it.
Because persuasion isn’t an abstract thing, instead, it’s in everything we do.
When you try to convince your boss that you deserve a raise… you’re using persuasion.
When you give a speech and you try to convince your audience that doing X is wrong, and instead they should do Y… you’re using persuasion.
When you try to ask out a woman (or a man)… you’re using persuasion.
As you see, persuasion is the key to obtaining the life you want and deserve.
But how can you master it?
You have three ways to do it:
Option #1
You could go on Amazon and buy a truckload of books on persuasion.
For example:
- Influence.
- Yes!
- Verbal Judo
- etc.
Take a long time, read them, apply their advice, and fumble around trying to use them, and manipulating people.
Because all these books don’t talk or care about your integrity.
They’re full of redundant examples to keep you inside of their system and to try to show value… but in reality, they only teach you small techniques how to be fake and use people against themselves to please your interests.
You will learn how to put on a facade and coerce people.
And, yes… it can work in the short term.
But in the long term?
People will always expose you for using those unethical parts of persuasion
So if you want to read hundreds of pages of silly examples (that might not actually have even happened) to learn how to exploit and trick people… go ahead.
